Items placed on curb before Monday, April 24th may be punishable by fine.
ONE PASS DOWN EACH STREET WILL BE MADE
ONCE THE TRUCK HAS PASSED IT WILL NOT RETURN
ALL ITEMS MUST BE BAGGED OR IN CANS WITH HANDLES ON BOTH SIDES-OTHER THAN BULKY ITEMS
DO NOT STACK BAGS OF LOOSE ITEMS ON TOP OF LARGER ITEMS
DO NOT USE CARDBOARD BOXES
WEIGHT LIMIT OF 50 POUNDS PER ITEM
PLEASE PARK SO TRUCKS CAN GET TO ITEMS
Items accepted at the curb include:
¨ Household generated garbage/trash
¨ Bulky items…furniture, dryers, stoves, mattresses, bedsprings, water heaters, dishwashers, carpet (cut/bundled in 4-foot sections), etc
¨ Boards or long items must be cut to 4 feet and bundled weighing less than 50 lbs.
¨ Drywall must be in containers with handles on both sides and weigh less than 50 lbs.

SPECIAL WASTE COLLECTION DROP OFF
SATURDAY, APRIL 29, 2016 - 8 am to 12 pm - 110 DEPOT ST (City Barn)
A PICTURE ID AND PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED FOR DROP OFF
Proof of residency can be the address on a driver’s license or a utility bill (water, electric, gas, Mediacom, etc)
The Butler Wastewater Department will be sponsoring a Special Waste Collection as part of the annual spring cleanup. This is being done in order to comply with a variance that the City received from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management concerning mercury.
Items can be dropped off between 8 am to 12 pm at 110 Depot St (City Barn). They will not be picked up.
The following items will be accepted at the City Barn:
t Thermometers (with silver-colored liquid inside) t Thermostats (non-electric)
t Fluorescent light bulbs t Gauges (barometers, manometers)
t Clothes irons (automatic or tilt shut-offs) t Computers and other electronic devices
t Televisions (not TV’s in the wooden boxes)
t Elemental mercury (silver-colored liquid, sometimes found in children’s chemistry sets)
t Switches (found in electric space heaters, sump pumps and/or chest freezers)
Do not leave any of these items for the curbside pickup! They will NOT be picked up.
If you would like to properly dispose of the items listed above, drop them off at the City Barn, 110 Depot St, between 8 am and 12 Noon on Saturday April 29. There is NO Cost to You! The City of Butler Wastewater Department is working with the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste District for handling and disposing of these items.

t NO Shingles t NO Freon Appliances
t NO Cement Blocks or Concrete Items t NO Televisions in wood cabinets
t NO Hazardous Waste (Motor oil, chemicals, solvents, fertilizers, cleaners, etc.)
Contact the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste District at 1-800-777-5462 to find out about disposal of these items. The District, located on State Road 4 in Ashley, may be able to handle these items for a minimal fee. Their website, www.niswmd.org, is a useful resource in disposal of items.
The City of Butler will be picking up winter storm damage May 1, 2017.
All storm damage must be at the curb by 7 am on May 1, 2017. Only limbs and
branches downed by the winter storms will be accepted. The branches MUST be
kept separate from the spring cleanup items. NO EXCEPTIONS!
