Butler Community Garden

|| August 17, 2018

Now is the time to reserve garden plot for next year.  Soil preparations are needed in the fall to prepare for the spring planting.  We have a free mentoring program for those that want assistance.  We also have a selected amount of free seeds.  Call the City Office at 260-868-5200 to get started.

 The mission of the Butler Community Garden is to build community by increasing and enhancing community gardening and greening of the City.

The Butler Community Garden is a community based program consisting of volunteers and supporters of community garden. We recognize that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

The Butler Community garden works to promote and support all aspects of community food and ornamental gardening, urban forestry, preservation and management of open space.

We support community gardening by facilitating the formation and expansion of local gardening networks developing resources in support of community gardening; and, encouraging research and conducting educational programs.
