PLAN COMMISSION

JULY 11, 2011

MEETING MINUTES

1.      Call to Order – Tammy Davis, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

 

2.      Roll Call – Members present were Davis, Dozzy Coburn, Jerry Eldridge, Ford Hudson, Sandy Lechliedner, Kent Likes, Stephanie Rohm and Anita Shultz.  Also present were Mayor Ron Walter and City Planner Steve Bingham.

 

3.      Introduction of New City Planner – Mayor Walter introduced the new City Planner, Steve Bingham.  Bingham reviewed his accomplishments in Garrett.  Discussion regarding the Plan Commission’s role in development activities.

 

4.      Old Business -

 

a.      Outdoor Wood Heaters – Discussion regarding regulating outdoor wood heaters.  Need to discuss fire code issues with the DeKalb County Building Department.  Will continue discussion at September meeting.

 

b.      Windmills – Discussion regarding windmill regulation.  Need to contact County Plan Commission regarding their ongoing review of same. 

 

c.       Zoning Ordinance Code Books – Several Commission members do not have zoning ordinance / comprehensive  plan books.  Copies of books will be provided to members at the September 12 meeting.

 

d.      Warning Sirens – Mayor Walter stated that the City needed new warning sirens.   Will look into sources of grant funding.

 

5.      Next Meeting Date – The next Commission meeting will be Monday, September 12, 2011, at 6:30 PM.

 

6.      Adjourn – Meeting was adjourned at 7:27 PM.
